Why This Suite Is Important
Roof-collected rainwater can accumulate heavy metals from roofing materials, gutters, and atmospheric deposition, affecting the quality of your drinking water.
Lead and cadmium may leach from roofing components, especially older structures.
Copper and zinc can dissolve from roof flashings, coatings, or tank linings.
Regular monitoring helps ensure that your water remains suitable for drinking and household use.
The Maximum Acceptable Values (MAVs) and treatment limits for these determinands are:
Chemical & Physical Contaminants:
Cadmium: 0.004 mg/L
Copper: 2.0 mg/L
Lead: 0.01 mg/L
Zinc: 1.5 mg/L (Aesthetic guideline only)
