✔ This suite is specifically designed for roof water supplies that are not impacted by chimneys or open fires. If your water source is exposed to smoke or soot, consider our Roof Water Chemistry + Benzo(a)pyrene Suite to test for additional contaminants.
✔ Parameters Tested:E. coli, Total Coliforms, Cadmium, Copper, Lead, Zinc ✔ Sampling Frequency: Annually ✔ Suggested Sampling Point: At the point of use, post-treatment

General Roof Water Chemistry + Microbiological Analysis (Annual Monitoring)
For rural households and domestic self-supplies that rely entirely on roof-collected rainwater, ensuring annual monitoring for both chemical contaminants and microbiological safety to maintain a safe and sustainable drinking water source.
Why This Suite Is Important
Many rural homes and off-grid households depend entirely on roof-collected rainwater for drinking and daily use. However, waterborne bacteria and heavy metals from roofing materials can impact water safety.
E. coli and total coliforms indicate microbial contamination risks, often from birds, debris, or inadequate filtration.
Lead, cadmium, copper, and zinc may leach from roofing materials, gutters, or storage tanks, particularly in older homes or farm infrastructure.
Testing both microbiological and chemical parameters ensures that the water remains safe for drinking and household use.
The Maximum Acceptable Values (MAVs) and treatment limits for these determinands are:
Microbiological Contaminants:
E. coli: Must not be detected in 100 mL samples
Total Coliforms: Presence indicates potential contamination
Chemical & Physical Contaminants:
Cadmium: 0.004 mg/L
Copper: 2.0 mg/L
Lead: 0.01 mg/L
Zinc: 1.5 mg/L (Aesthetic guideline only)
📌 If you have a Safe Supply Online Drinking Water Safety Plan, your test results can be automatically shared with the online tool, made available to members of your water supply, and scheduled for submission to the regulator as required.
📌 Results must be retained for at least 5 years and made available to all members of the water supply.
💬 Need Help?
Once you receive your results, we can introduce you to a water quality expert with knowledge of drinking water and treatment options to assist in understanding the results and developing a drinking water supply strategy.
