AS Spring and Bore Combined Annual Pre-treatment Monitoring

For drinking water supplies following the Acceptable Solution for Spring and Bore Drinking Water Supplies (AS-SB), this suite provides a cost-effective combined test for both 3-monthly and annual pre-treatment monitoring requirements.

Why This Suite Is Important

Combining 3-monthly and annual monitoring into a single cost-effective suite simplifies compliance while ensuring comprehensive water quality testing.

Monitoring ensures that the source water remains suitable for treatment and that no long-term changes compromise safety.

  • Heavy metals like arsenic, iron, and manganese can accumulate in groundwater and require monitoring.
  • Silica and hardness impact water treatment efficiency and infrastructure longevity.

The Maximum Acceptable Values (MAVs) and treatment limits for these determinands are:

  • Microbiological Contaminants:

    • E. coli: Must not be detected in 100 mL samples
    • Total Coliforms: Presence indicates potential contamination

  • Chemical & Physical Contaminants:

    • Nitrate: 50 mg/L as NO₃
    • pH: 7.0 – 8.5 (Recommended for drinking water)
    • UV Transmittance: Must meet UV manufacturer specifications
    • Turbidity: Must be at a level suitable for cartridge filtration and UV disinfection
    • Arsenic: 0.01 mg/L
    • Boron: 1.4 mg/L
    • Silica: Must meet cartridge filtration manufacturer specifications
    • Hardness: Must meet UV manufacturer specifications
    • Iron: 0.2 mg/L (Aesthetic guideline, staining at high levels)
    • Manganese: 0.04 mg/L (Aesthetic), 0.4 mg/L (Health-based limit)
  • 📌 If you have a Safe Supply Online Drinking Water Safety Plan, your test results can be automatically shared with the online tool, made available to members of your water supply, and scheduled for submission to the regulator as required.
  • 📌 Results must be retained for at least 5 years and made available to all members of the water supply.
  • 💬 Need Help?
  • Once you receive your results, we can introduce you to a water quality expert with knowledge of drinking water and treatment options to assist in understanding the results and developing a drinking water supply strategy.
