AS Spring and Bore 3-Monthly Post-Treatment Microbiological Monitoring
For drinking water supplies following the Acceptable Solution for Spring and Bore Drinking Water Supplies (AS-SB) to ensure that treated water remains safe for consumption and meets microbiological water quality standards.
Why This Suite Is Important
Post-treatment microbiological monitoring ensures that treatment systems effectively remove microbiological risks and maintain safe drinking water quality.
E. coli and total coliforms indicate microbiological contamination risks and potential system failures.
Turbidity testing ensures that filtration and treatment processes are operating as intended.
If turbidity exceeds the manufacturer's limits, an investigation and corrective action must be taken.
All end-point treatment systems must be sampled within a 5-year period to ensure full compliance.
The Maximum Acceptable Values (MAVs) and treatment limits for these determinands are:
Microbiological Contaminants:
E. coli: Must not be detected in 100 mL samples
Total Coliforms: Presence indicates potential contamination
Chemical & Physical Contaminants:
Turbidity: Must be at a level suitable for cartridge filtration and UV disinfection
📌 If you have a Safe Supply Online Drinking Water Safety Plan, your test results can be automatically shared with the online tool, made available to members of your water supply, and scheduled for submission to the regulator as required.
📌 Results must be retained for at least 5 years and made available to all members of the water supply.
💬 Need Help?
Once you receive your results, we can introduce you to a water quality expert with knowledge of drinking water and treatment options to assist in understanding the results and developing a drinking water supply strategy.
