AS Mixed-use Rural Pre-requisite Water Source Analysis
For drinking water supplies following theAcceptable Solution for Mixed-Use Rural Water Supplies (AS-MR)to establish baseline water quality before implementation of the Acceptable Solution.
Why This Suite Is Important
Before adopting the Acceptable Solution, source water must be tested to confirm its suitability for cartridge filtration and UV disinfection. If results exceed Maximum Acceptable Values (MAVs) or are outside manufacturer specifications, additional pre-treatment is required, and the Acceptable Solution cannot be used as-is.
Testing under varying environmental conditions ensures that treatment remains effective even during worst-case scenarios, such as after heavy rainfall.
The Maximum Acceptable Values (MAVs) and treatment limits for these determinands are:
E. coli: Must not be detected in 100 mL samples
Nitrate: 50 mg/L as NO₃
Arsenic: 0.01 mg/L
Boron: 1.4 mg/L
Iron: Must meet UV manufacturer specifications
Manganese: Must be below the MAV (0.04 mg/L aesthetic, 0.4 mg/L health-based)
Silica: Must meet cartridge filtration manufacturer specifications
Hardness: Must meet UV manufacturer specifications
UV Transmittance: Must meet UV manufacturer specifications
Turbidity: Must be at a level suitable for cartridge filtration and UV disinfection
📌 If you have a Safe Supply Online Drinking Water Safety Plan, your test results can be automatically shared with the online tool, made available to members of your water supply, and scheduled for submission to the regulator as required.
📌 Results must be retained for at least 5 years and made available to all members of the water supply.
