AS Mixed-use Rural Combined 3-Monthly & Annual Pre-Treatment Water Quality Monitoring
For drinking water supplies using theAcceptable Solution for Mixed-Use Rural Water Supplies (AS-MR), this comprehensive monitoring package combines both 3-monthly and annual testing requirements into a single, cost-effective solution for streamlined compliance.
Why This Suite Is Important
This cost-effective monitoring suite combines both the 3-monthly and annual tests into a single package. Regular testing helps detect immediate changes in microbial and chemical water quality, while annual monitoring ensures long-term safety against heavy metal accumulation. This combined suite reduces costs and simplifies compliance with drinking water regulations.
The Maximum Acceptable Values (MAVs) and treatment limits for these determinands are:
Microbiological & General Water Quality Parameters (3-Monthly)
E. coli: Must not be detected in 100 mL samples
Nitrate: 50 mg/L as NO₃
pH: 7.0 – 8.5 (recommended for drinking water)
Turbidity: <1.0 NTU for effective disinfection
Chemical & Heavy Metals (Annual)
Arsenic: 0.01 mg/L
Boron: 1.4 mg/L
Silica: No MAV, but monitoring is useful for scaling potential
Hardness: No MAV, but values over 200 mg/L may cause scaling
📌 If you have a Safe Supply Online Drinking Water Safety Plan, your test results can be automatically shared with the online tool, made available to members of your water supply, and scheduled for submission to the regulator as required.
📌 Results must be retained for at least 5 years and made available to all members of the water supply.
💬 Need Help?
Once you receive your results, we can introduce you to a water quality expert with knowledge of drinking water and treatment options to assist in understanding the results and developing a drinking water supply strategy.
