AS Roof 3-Yearly Water Quality Monitoring (With Chimney or Open Fire)

For drinking water supplies using the Acceptable Solution for Roof Water Supplies (AS-RW), this suite provides 3-yearly testing of rainwater quality, including Benzo[a]pyrene for properties with a chimney or open fire, ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Why This Suite Is Important

In properties where rainwater is collected from roofs with chimneys or open fires, additional monitoring is required to test for Benzo[a]pyrene, a chemical associated with combustion by-products. This 3-yearly test ensures that both metals and organic contaminants are within safe limits, protecting household water supplies.

The Maximum Acceptable Values (MAVs) and treatment limits for these determinands are:

  • Benzo[a]pyrene: 0.00001 mg/L (only tested if there is a chimney or open fire)
  • Cadmium: 0.004 mg/L
  • Copper: 2 mg/L
  • Lead: 0.01 mg/L
  • Zinc: No MAV, but high levels may cause taste and plumbing issues
  • 📌 If you have a Safe Supply Online Drinking Water Safety Plan, your test results can be automatically shared with the online tool, made available to members of your water supply, and scheduled for submission to the regulator as required.
  • 📌 Results must be retained for at least 5 years and made available to all members of the water supply.
